About the role

As a Senior Programme Officer within the Medical Pay and Workforce Team designated, you will support the delivery of dedicated programmes related to national negotiations/discussions on the reform of pay and terms and conditions of service for NHS doctors and dentists, medical education, quality and standards, and medical workforce supply.

You will:

  • Engage with employers to identify their views on key policy developments relating to education and training, quality and standards and medical workforce supply
  • Assist team members in coordinating and providing the secretariat for national negotiations and discussions with trade unions
  • Support employers in understanding and implementing national policy and contractual obligations.

The Senior Programme Officer role may be a suitable development opportunity for someone with NHS experience looking to gain experience working at a national level.

About you

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in NHS medical staffing and/or with national stakeholders
  • Strong experience in supporting formal meetings with multiple stakeholders, including minute-taking, agenda planning and drafting papers 
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues and external bodies
  • Excellent writing and problem-solving skills and the ability to summarise complex information in simple language
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Understanding of HR and employment relations issues
